Getting back to normal.

This is, hands down the most beautiful sight I've seen all week. As of today, 8 days later, we have power again. Wahoo!!

Who knew that entire days could be consumed looking for these two things.

Bet ya'll didn't know that almost all Texans are poets.

This was just amazing, had to share.

Hurricane Ike!!!

Well we survived a direct hit from Ike. The eye passed over our house about 6 in the morning. We were able to talk to neighbors for about 45 minutes before we had to take cover for the rest of the storm. We have lots of trees and branches in our yard, but thankfully none hit the house. We still have no power (I'm on the Internet at work...shh) and don't expect to have any for another 3+ weeks. We have a generator (after ours was stolen, Brett stood in line for 4 hours to get another one) so we have a refrigerator and fans and TV sometimes. Our neighbors have all banded together and we are all looking out for one another. If one family goes for gas for the generators, we gather cans from everyone. If one family couldn't get the septic hooked up to the generators, then we share showers and bathrooms. One of our neighbor even drove to Mississippi to get more generators. The Dr. I work for had been without water, septic, and power, without a generator for 4 days, so he bought 2 from him. For the most part people have been very helpful and things have been as good as can be expected. We have no idea when school will resume. It is closed indefinitely. Chloe's cheer gym opened last night, to give the girls a place to have some normalcy and to let them get some energy burned.

I'll update with pictures later.

Because of the Hurricane, Cousin's John and Nancy finally came for a visit. (forced but whatever. We'll take what we can get) It has been wonderful to catch up.
